Mya, she didn't want her picture taken.

Well, Leah and I had a great surprise last weekend. I found someone to work for me Saturday night so on Saturday morning when I got off work we went to the beach with Carolyn, Madison and Mya. We visited Bald Head Island and stayed with Carolyn's sister Dona again. It was a blast. I must say that it's been a while since I went to the beach and didn't read 2 or 3 books... a very adult activity... instead I played with Madison and Mya. We boogie boarded, made each other mermaids in the sand, played in the pool, played house, played Barbie dolls, and all sorts of game that only a 4 and 7 year old want to play.
Leah had a blast too! She loved putting the sand in her bucket, on her legs, and on other people's feet. She also started doing something else while we were there...WALKING!!! About 5 to 6 steps consistently. Sometimes less. But she's started to see the convenience of walking. When she sits in her little rocking chair it's next to her book case. Instead of crawling to the books and toys she takes the 2 to 3 steps it takes to get there! But major distances she still prefers the speed of crawling. But at least we're making way into the world of walking. She's also really getting into songs now and can make the spider motion to Itsy Bitsy Spider and sing spider and Leah smashes the baby bumblebee and says 'Ouch' in the Baby Bumblebee song. So, if you haven't seen Leah in the past week or so then be prepared for a singer and a walker!
Anyway, back to the beach...We had great weather with rain only one morning that didn't keep us inside. We looked for sea shells that morning. The temp never really got about 85 so it was very comfortable as well. The ocean was very calm and warm which was perfect for swimming with my nieces. Carolyn said this was the first time they'd ever really been out in the ocean water. Hopefully they'll love it now.
We really had a good time. I hope everyone enjoys the pictures.
Love,
Susan
